There was plenty of bad news that came out of the election Tuesday starting with the thirty four times convicted felon getting elected President. As depressing as that in itself was, a little talked about story I saw made me even more depressed.
According to KLAS in Las Vegas the State of Nevada was holding more than 13,000 ballots they can't count because of one particular thing missing from them. A signature.
Apparently our first time voters have never learned how to write in cursive so they returned their ballots without a signature on it thus voiding it. These ballot represented only two percent of all votes cast so you're saying, no big deal. Well, there are some races that are so close that these ballots might change the winner. One North Las Vegas city council race is separated by only 43 votes.
Kids today are not taught how to write in school anymore because, why waste the time when you can just download your signature from one of the million fonts on your phone or laptop. Seriously. This is a problem since many states, including Nevada, offer digital signatures on drivers licenses so you don't actually have to sign anything to get one.
This is just another in a long list of changes to our world that is eroding society and creating a new group of idiots that one day will be leaders of our country and businesses. An additional side note of this is that many of today's kids can't read cursive either. So many of our important documents in history are written in cursive and now we have a generation of illiterates that can create an app on your phone but can't sign their names. Unbelievable.
I don't mean to sound like an angry old man but jeez, this seems like it should be a basic part of school. I can't remember just this second where, but I read the other day that a country is working on passing a law that will take away cell phones from kids until they are eighteen because they are concerned that it is becoming too disruptive for teachers. Good for them. It will never happen because today's parents are so helicoptering with their kids that if they are out of touch for ten seconds they go into meltdown.
Parents are raising a generation of dopes and spoiled brats who have so many frigging issues that it blows your mind. Childhood obesity, childhood diabetes, and now we can add illiteracy. This all started when we gave out participation trophy's to kids so their feelings weren't hurt by picking one kid over another as best on the team. What a mess.
